Linda Katz
has taught cello privately since
the late 1960s.
She received her BS and BMus degree from the University
of Oregon, and her MMus and DMA from the Ohio State University.
Dr. Katz has played in the Dayton Philharmonic Orchestra
since 1977 and was principal for 23 years. She has specialized in
Baroque performance practice as well as chamber music. She is currently
in the String Quintet of the DPO and a SPARK musician for Parkwood,
Cleveland, Dayton Lutheran, and St. Christopher schools.
Dr. Katz has taught at WSU (16 years), UD (11
years), and Sinclair (26 years) and is currently teaching at Stivers
Music Magnet (4 years). She is active playing weddings and background
music with several groups, including Elegant Entertainment.
Dr. Katz is an active Suzuki Teacher and has attended
workshops in Stevens Point, Ithaca, Columbus and Springboro, Ohio.
The Katz Suzuki
Cello Studio curriculum is based on the Suzuki Cello School and the
Toronto Royal Academy of Music graded list, which includes scales,
etudes, and pieces of ascending difficulty. We strive for beautiful
tone, technique and musicianship.
